Hereford Carriage Show springs into action. The Hereford and District Driving Group are planning another exciting new show for this year with a new organising team and a new venue. After banishing Lester Dagge to the wilds of West Wales, Mandy Reddock (stalwart of the show ring) has taken the reins and driven the show on to better things!
This year’s show will be held on Sunday May 9th and features one of the most spectacular venues in the country in the grounds of Hampton Court, a castellated Victorian mansion in the heart of the Lugg Valley near Leominster in Herefordshire. The Castle has recently been taken over by new owners from an American religious order who spent millions restoring the house and gardens. “The beautiful parkland setting with rolling landscaped grounds and cedar trees is the ideal venue for a carriage driving show” states Show Director Mandy. We have scaled the show down a few classes from previous years and have included a new fun ring for under and over 13.2hh equines, appealing to those less interested in looks but more on skills! We still have 11 showing classes including our concours which will be judged by a local artist Glyn Whiting and our Main Judge for the showing will be Claudia Bunn, with local judge Sarah Wildy judging the fun ring.
With the combination of the spectacular ground and gardens and the exciting days driving classes, it promises to be a great day out. Details of the show including downloadable schedule are available online at the clubs website www.hddg.co.uk. Entries close on May 5th, but late entries will be accepted at additional cost.
